Week 6 Minor Project

With the idea that your work will communicate to a specific audience, what questions are you asking that audience?

Does it communicate how bad things can be?

Who is your audience?

I believe from teenagers to adults.

When the work is seen on its own, and you are not there to back it up, what do you want people to think about when they look at your work?

‘oh, this is something interesting.’

How will people benefit from your work?

Having a good time.

In a dream scenario, how would you like to financially benefit from this work? For example, would you like a gallery to sell it? A publication house to market it? An advertising agency to commission you? An illustration agency to represent you? You choose.

There are two options which can be somewhat plausible: one is that these character creation would be a reward on Patron if the graphic narrative linked to this project will take off on Webtoon, Tampas or a website created for it; the other option if I would be able to be published by an agency, such as Sloth Comics or SelfMadeHero and have a separate publication which would show the design process behind the characters.

Fred Gambino:

This artist caught my attention because of the work done for Escape Planet Earth, especially the city concepts are similar to the one I wanted to realize for world building part of the concept art I am creating. Then there is the fact that Escape Planet Earth is followed by concept art done for Disney Epic Mickey which has images that is inspiring me on how some part of the world will look similar. Another thing that caught my eyes is the characters from Publishing have cool stances that I would like for my characters to have, or to even look as epic.

Gemma Correll

I always have to remind myself that having a style that is not always used in something does not make me a bad drawer and Correll makes this point: her simplistic art style is not something that I usually look at when I do research nor is similar to my favourite graphic narratives, but can be as serious, if not even more powerful than what I usually look at.

Ronald Wimberly

His work caught my eye because the colours he uses they are bold, but not enough to be distasteful, something I am both attracted to and unable to replicate myself most of the time. His black and white work still is so full of life and expressiveness. The little comic strips I saw are also so expressive and what I would like to achieve one day.
