This week I worked on creating a ‘final’ piece for this project for the crit.
I decided to create a character sheet on the computer after I realized that most of my sketchbook drawings looked unprofessional when scanned. I used Photoshop to modify this image:
I proceeded to rebuild the body structure once or twice before I was happy with it, especially because I wanted it to have the proportions to look similar or equal looking. For both the everyday and work clothing. I used Deharme-Basic-Hard-5 created by Deharmeto sketch and to colour for the base Hard Round found on Photoshop, and for shading Deharme-Paint-Tool created by Deharme. (You can find them here: https://www.deviantart.com/deharme/art/Deharme-s-TOOLBOX-480880426)
The basis for this project was utopian and dystopian, following the feedback given to me by my sister and mum the more classical and very feminine clothing was more appropriate to convey how messed up the society Violet (the protagonist) lives in, but at the same time as a blacksmith she needed good working clothing that cannot be delicate or white, so the choice was made to create a second set of clothing, with the same idea of one stripe on her abdomen showing her gender directly. The wig was added because my sister pointed out that if the society Violet lives in is so rectangular about gender clothing, she cannot have a shaven head, so a long dark brown wig was created for this concept. I also edited a character profile I have done for Violet this summer and place it near her, like I saw some creators do in their character sheets; the type face is Baskerville Old Face.
This is the end product:
