Video Game Concept Art

Passion project.

Dark fantasy game inspired by Dark Soul, Blood Born, and Elden Ring but with better accessibility.

Character Design

Here you will find all the character design sketches, fully rendered images and unused ideas.

My main inspirations for all of this projects are:

The legend of Zelda.

Castelvania the animated series.

The Plague doctors attires and masks.

Blood Born.

Ghost Rider.

Mythological beings (Mermaids, Sirens.)

Camila Reis

Obsidian

Obsidian is the protagonist of the game idea. 

She will most likely be a silent protagonist.

The initial idea for the game at first was of her being dropped in a ruin world, without a clue of why she is here, or what happened to it, but it transformed in something more in line with other dark fantasy videogames. As a consequence she evolved with it.

The main inspiration of her designs are sirens and the Rito from the Legend of Zelda Wind Waker and the masks of Plague doctors.

Keith

Keith is supposed to be the first boss in the game.

The story idea of bosses is inspired by Undertale, and not all enemies are to kill.

Lore wise, Keith is an undead character that got killed in a spirit swamp, which has the tendency to reanimate anyone with strong will to live. His mission is to find his siblings and protect them.

At the start he was supposed to be a high elf but his flaming corpse looked way to much like his inspiration, the Ghost Rider, so I changed him to be a wood elf instead. I research plants that have protection and family oriented meaning, settling in with a willow, to be precise a weeping willow as he is sorrowful look for his missing siblings.

Two Moon King

The Two Moon king will be companion character in the videogame.

Lore wise he is an ancient king of a long lost civilization that was executed and trapped into a scythe. He will also be the main weapon for the game.

The challenge for this character is to stick to one look, I know I want him to have yellow and blue tones, and that his clothes would be bizarre and unusual, he also needs to fit the design of the scythe.

I must do more research and sketching to figure out how to depict him.

Abis

Abis is like Keith, he will be a boss that if things are done correctly can be spared and will be  an ally to Obsidian.

Lore wise he is half High Elf half siren, born from a noble family but trapped in a tower, forced to be the guardian of his family treasures.

I am trying to figure out what type of bird I want to take inspiration from, but for now I have been struggling to do so.

I have been also struggling to remember to have both his hair and wings when drawing him, which is something I am working on.

Like Obsidian, I am taking inspiration from the Rito in The Legend of Zelda Wind Weaker.

Unplaced / not fully developed 
Characters.

Obscurium, is supposed to be the Harbinger of the End, they will be an ally to Obsidian.

They look scary but are a total sweetheart. Married to Nicolay.

Nicolay, is a foreigner extremely skilled healer, will be an ally to Obsidian.

He is a water manipulating fairy. Married to Obscurium.

Light and Shine, they are Keith brother and sister. These are the old designs, they will not look like this any longer.

She is the one giving jobs to Obsidian at the start of the game, AKA tutorial character.

Demigod, they will be the end objective if the player discover about her through explorations.

They are inspired by several moon goddesses.

Yum-Yum will be the mascot / merchant of the game.

The design is new, but Yum-Yum has been with me since college. Unfortunately the old design looked like something I cannot show and I have not realized it until redrawing her for this project.

The main inspiration are all the mascots, especially Pokémon.

Captain Faneel, will be the mode of transportation in the game from island to island.

He is a merman but so far that is all I have for this character.

Ambient Design

Sketches of ambient.

Original spawn point. Will be remade into a sealing symbol for the Two Moon Kingdom.

The solitude that Obsidian feels.

Obsidian is a wingless Siren. She cannot leave the undercity because of it.

The prison of the Demigod. Will not be used as it looks too much like the Light Roots in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.

Keith's Den.

I used the old design, otherwise this is a good look at where he resides.
